Welcome to Preston Community Preschool. We hope the information you find on our website will tell you all you need to know about us, how we operate, and will help you in making the decision to let your child join us.
Our preschool received an Outstanding Ofsted in 2011 and in Dec 2016 and takes children from under 2 years until they start school at 5 years old and is a registered charity. We accept Two Year old funding as well as 15h and 30h funded childcare for three and four year olds.
It is managed by Susan Gibbons, Manager, Terena Cottell, Deputy Manager with the support of a voluntary committee.
When possible we exceed the ratio of adults to children that is stipulated by Ofsted and the EYFS framework. We also encourage volunteer parent helpers where possible to complement these ratios. This helps us to give time and attention to each child, talk with the children about their interests and activities, help children to experience and benefit from the activities we provide and allow the children time to explore and be adventurous in a safe environment.
At Preston Community Preschool we create a positive atmosphere that encourages children’s learning and promotes family life. We will demonstrate Christian values while valuing diversity and be active members of our local community. We ensure we are supporting the individual needs of all the children so that they are happy, confident, creative, sociable and enthusiastic learners.
- To enhance the development and education of preschool children in a safe, secure and stimulating environment;
- To ensure all children regardless of gender, race, religion or ability are given the opportunity to experience a challenging and enjoyable programme of learning and development;
- To work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and to help your child achieve the Government’s five Every Child Matters outcomes. However here at Preston Community Preschool our emphasis will always be learning through play;
- To demonstrate Christian values and be active members of the local community, by creating a positive atmosphere that encourages children’s learning and promotes family life.
We are a church preschool and as such, we have close links with other groups and events in the church. We aim to create a Christian ethos and give priority to Christian teaching where relevant within the curriculum. Although not all staff are churchgoers, all are sympathetic to the Christian ethos.
